Navigating life as a young adult cancer survivor is a journey that comes with its unique set of challenges. Beyond the physical battles, there’s an emotional rollercoaster—one that often goes unnoticed.
Survivors carry immense strength amidst profound emotional turmoil, from grappling with survivor’s guilt to facing uncertainties about the future. Prioritizing mental health and well-being is essential.
In an effort to address these challenges, we partnered with Kaely's Kindness Foundation to create the "Better You" program. Our first series, held in January 2024, was a 6-week program hosted by Munni Visco, J.D., CPC, CLC. Designed as a safe space for girls 16 and older, this program focused on fostering a healthy relationship with oneself through sessions on values, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles, identifying limiting beliefs, understanding emotions, and honing communication skills. Participants were equipped with the tools to create the life they deserve.
Recognizing the ongoing need to support the mental health of young adult cancer survivors, we are excited to launch a second series of "Better You" in September 2024, facilitated by Melody De John.
With fall approaching, it's the perfect time to prioritize self-care and growth. This 10-week program will provide a safe environment to discuss vital survivorship topics, including feeling lost in transition, dealing with the loss of support after treatment ends, and grappling with survivor’s guilt. Join us as we continue to support young survivors in their journey toward a better, more fulfilling life.
Olivia's Bears and Kaely's Kindness share insights from the Better You Series, a collaboration with Kaely's Kindness Foundation to support young cancer survivors. Watch their conversation on Daytime Buffalo, where they discuss the emotional challenges of survivorship and the launch of the upcoming program focused on mental health, growth, and healing.
It’s a chance to prioritize your well-being, find support in a community of peers, and take meaningful steps toward personal growth and healing.
A supportive and empowering environment where you can openly discuss the challenges of survivorship. Through guided sessions, we will explore topics like managing the transition after treatment, coping with survivor's guilt, and rebuilding their sense of identity.
If you are already a member of the Kaely’s Kindness Girls Group on Facebook, respond “Going” on the event page for the program. For questions or if you are new to the group, please email kaely@kaelyskindness.org.
